Birth Certificates and Poems

Here's a glimpse at the projects I worked on this evening.....

Isn't this cool?  It's a Reproduction of an original turn of the Century Stone Lithograph.  I added the info in Brown script.

This is an 8 x 10 original poem that will be given as a Christmas gift done in black italic.

Early 1800's era Letter to be Used in Movie.......

Earlier in the week, I received a quote request out of California for an authentic looking, early 1800's era letter to be used on screen in a movie.  How cool is that?  They begin filming in Los Angeles on Dec. 10.

The request details were:

"This letter will be featured on screen so it needs to look authentic. Furthermore, the letter is written by a well educated man (so it would look very nice and formal). There would be no address or signature as the letter is written in haste and delivered in secret."

Here's what I came up with:

These are 6 1/4 X 8 1/2 stationary size papers.  Black script.  So much fun to do!

They loved it and it's being shipped Monday!

This is a Christmas gift.  Always love those organized people!

Marriage Proposal

It's always fun when a creative guy calls me to help him with a marriage proposal!  I worked on 5 different letters this week to help him to get ready to pop the question!

Each letter was done on a different color parchment and placed in a parchment envelope.

Each envelope was marked and then sealed with a wax seal

And then there is the 8 x 10 marriage proposal itself to be presented at dinner.
Congratulations Manny & Anna!

A Poem for the Mother of the Bride

I recently shared with you a very popular poem that many of my brides give to their new mother-in-law on their wedding day.  I had a bride re-write it a bit so that the groom could give it to the mother of the bride.  Neat idea!!!

I had a nice break last night but it was back to work this evening.  Fitting in a few more custom pieces around the wedding envelopes.

This is a 5 x 7 in black Italic.
This bride is getting married next week and will present this poem to her mother-in-law.  Nice gift idea!  Congratulations Rob and Salee!!!

Certificates and Family Heirlooms

This week my schedule picked back up after the typical July break.  I've worked on wedding envelopes for the fall but I've also worked on some certificates and a family heirloom.
It's always fun to add that final personal touch to a special certificate.

"Love is the largest of all"

This was one of my neatest projects yet.  It is a little book (3" x 4") that will go inside of a prayer book that has been carried in 13 different family weddings since 1946.

Each bride in this family has carried the book and they wanted to have something with all the names listed.  I was honored to do it. Such a neat family heirloom!!!

More Place Cards

These place cards were purchased at Hobby Lobby. They are ivory and the decoration on them is actually raised.  It's fuzzy and has a soft, velvet look to it.  The brown script is a nice finishing touch.

Song Lyrics and Wedding Envelopes

This is a neat gift idea!  I do a lot of song lyrics, but this time, they just ordered a portion of the song.  This is a 5 x 7 on natural paper in black italic.  The song has been stuck in my head all night!  Ha!

I love doing colored inks on envelopes. This is a brown ink in script with traditional zip code.  The return address is brown as well as the lining on the inside.  Nice finishing touch!  Congratulations Meredith!

Silver Envelopes, Gold Place Cards and An Adoption Gift

I worked on several different things today.....
Metallic Silver Envelopes!  How cool is that?  I did black ink on the outer silver envelope and silver ink on the black inner envelope.  Nice finishing touch!  Congratulations Lindsay!

Working on place cards for William Bainbridge Steel Designs again.  These are ivory with Gold Ink in Script.

Last but not least, I wanted to share this idea.  A few years ago a dear friend of mine adopted a baby and I had found this poem in a book of mine.  I personalized it by adding the baby's name and birth information.

Fun With Table Names

Don't be afraid to have fun and be creative with your table names. This bride had a fun idea and I thought I would share it.  She and her fiance met at UF so she decided to name her tables at the reception instead of numbering them.  She named each table after something from UF, whether a building or a person.  I wrote them on papers she designed to go into these frames.  Each frame is different and will be given away at the end of the night as a favor.  How fun is that?

More Custom Projects

This client has had me to do a few of these in the past several weeks as she is using them as wedding gifts.  Nice idea!  Black Italic on  8 x 10 natural calligraphy parchment.

Another fun idea.  This wife put several "I love you because" notes all around the house for her husband's birthday.  He compiled them all together and I put them in Brown Script on natural 8 x 10 parchment.

More Fun Projects

I finished up this wedding today.  Stuffed and stamped a few final ones and put them in the mail.  Thought you would enjoy seeing everything put together.  My brown script was a nice final touch for these invitations.  Congratulations Lisa!
These are some fun place cards for a wedding coming up at the end of the month.  We did fine italic in black ink.
This bride is also doing a Candy/Desert Table at her reception and had me make cards to label each one for the guests.  Very fun idea!  Congratulations Courtney!

Bookmarks

It's always fun to do something a little different.  Last week I worked on 20 bookmarks for a friend to give as gifts.  These are 3" x 5.25" done in black italic on natural paper.  She had them laminated and put the ribbon through them.  Thanks Sally, for allowing me to help.  I hope they are used and treasured by your ladies.

The Finishing Touches

Last week I worked on some escort cards for a wedding in Vero Beach. So often, I do these cards, take photos of them while they are sitting on my table and then ship them off.  Today, I received photos of the finishing touches that the event planner added.  I was amazed to see my work among all the beautiful flowers and decorations.

These are the cards up close before I mailed them.
Thanks William for sharing!!!!

Tonight's Color of Choice: Brown

Brown Ink on the Ecru envelopes make a nice finishing touch.  Script with Traditional Zip Code.

How are your wedding plans coming?  I've had lots of last minute brides this year and have even had to turn a few away because they waited too long to contact me.  If you know you want to use a Calligrapher to address your envelopes, contact them ASAP.  Get on the calendar and hold your date.  Remember, we are just like the other vendors and our days fill up fast.  I'm the only one who does the writing for my business so once I'm full, I have to turn people away.  It always makes me sad, because with the proper planning, you can have what you want.  Just something to think about.

Escort Cards

Escort Cards are often used instead of Place Cards.  They are tiny envelopes (way cute) that have cards inside of them with the guest's table assignment.  The nice thing is that they can stand up by adjusting the back flap.  Tonight I worked on this set.  Fern Green ink in Script font.  Nice touch.

Celebrating 50 Years

I just absolutely love being a part of family keepsakes.  This bride contacted me to put the finishing touches on her wedding picture.  I was so excited and thought it turned out great!
I have to tell you that the bride hasn't changed a bit!  As soon as she put the photo in front of me, I knew it was her!  I hope I can look that great after 50 years!  Congratulations John & Babs!  Here's to many more years together......
